  10. input device- a hardware that enables the computer to accept data. processor- a hard ware device that processes the data into meaningful information. storage device- a hardware device that permits data storage. output device- a hardware device that reports the information in a form we can understand.
  11. the difference between a sytem program and application program is a system program controls the computer's circuitry and hardware devicesj, while an application device instructs the computer to perform a specific, userdefined task.

  21. computers have long been used by hospital for routine record-keeping. today, however, many people owe their lives to the computer.
  22. when a computer is put to work doing routine, boring tasks, the employees who previously performed these tasks can be freed to do more interesting work. office jobs that require the same calculations to be repeated frequently and assembly line work that requires the same recurring tasks to be performed are examples of situations in which the computer can be put to good use.
